Organic composting

The generation of waste from our agribusiness is increasing, resulting in challenges both for appropriate destination and reuse. Taking into account the potential of residues to cause environmental damage, RECA considers the adoption of sustainable practices to be essential.

Waste composting yard – RECA. (RECA collection)

The processing plants for fruit pulp, jarred peach palm hearts-of-palm, and vegetable oils generate a large amount of organic waste. In order to reduce environmental impact, RECA implemented a composting system, which in addition to making good use of solid waste, gives it appropriate destination, and furthermore offers a high-quality organic fertilizer as the final product. The fertilizer is used by member producers and is also sold.
